While there are periods of lightheartedness, warmth, and comedy, there is a constant barrage of issues the characters are facing. The show focuses on Takahashi Nanami as she enters highschool and finds love for the first time, which makes it sound like just about every generic romance shoujo out there. Lets go into what makes it different and why you should watch it. Why Its Different To do a recommendation of this show any justice, I will be lightly spoiling the first four episodes to explain what makes this show different. Bokura Ga Ita Crunchyroll Free Do NotIf you want to watch the show entirely spoiler free do not read past this point. Our lead girl, Nanami Takahashi, meets the popular, perverted, playboy, Yano Motoharu. She very quickly finds out that Yanos girlfriend died in a car crash a year prior to events of the series, and develops a crush on him. The drama focuses on Yano dealing with his feelings of the events a year prior that lead to his girlfriends death, and the progressing romance with Nanami. If you have ever wanted to see a shoujo romance where the characters end up together early, and the show then focuses on the drama and problems a relationship between two inexperienced kids can bring, this is the show for you. ![]() The characters can be childish, stubborn, and totally uncertain of what they should do, but they struggle on anyways. Each of the characters tries to deal with their own and other peoples pasts, and their own flaws and emotional problems, so they can be as happy as they can be. The story starts with Nanamis first love and relationship, and deals with things like sex, ex girlfriends, friendship, and of course dealing with grief, death, and hatred. It focuses on how all of these complicated issues can be a big part of your life, and how their isnt a perfect solution or answer to any of these. Still, the characters struggle on as they work to slowly overcome their own problems, big and small, and grow up. The Characters Nanami Takahashi is one of my favorite shoujo leads for a number of reasons. She comes off as the normal girl shoujo lead who is experiencing love for the first time. She is not without her flaws as a character, but still does her best in general to find her path. She can be happy and joke around, she can be irrational because her feelings are hurt, and she can be empathetic and deep. Her very human reactions to the problems the characters face is very believable, and I really like her character design. Yano Motoharu is similarly one of my favorite shoujo male leads. He comes off at first as the lazy playboy who can do anything type, but we quickly begin to see his flaws as a person and the weight of the past he carries. He can be selfish, mean, and flawed in a number of ways, but sympathized with, as we see his problems and come to understand what makes him tick. The Drama This is the thing that will make a person love or hate this series the most.
